review 1: Book ReviewCollapse (New America Book 1) by Richard StephensonThe future of the world and America, in the hands of corrupt politicians, fighting against a mighty Islamic Iranian Empire, this story has a great premise, and is told in a well written style from many and varying points of view. What become clear is the USA is on its last legs and something has to give. . I did enjoy this book and felt for the character and the horrible plights, but towards the end I became a bit disillusioned with the forced conversations and what felt like a over concocted ending. I don’t think I’ll read the second part, even though the book shows America where it could be ending. Three stars, an OK read.Jeremy Poole.

... moreracter development seemed rushed as did some of the interactions. For example, throwing the love thing between the sheriff and his assistant at the 98% part of the book seemed kind of junior highish to me. Their whole relationship seemed immature. Once they meet each other's physical needs he declared his love for her and wants to get married? Just weird. And unless I got it wrong, Richard's children were biracial yet Billy the bigot didn't say anything, even after seeing the son? Was he really that stupid? Some of that kind of stuff could have been developed better and deeper. I imagined Richard killing Billy because of the bigotry issue. less

I realize this is dystopian fiction, but I just found it entirely too hopeless.
