review 1: Liked the book overall. Had trouble putting it down, but I didn't like all the jumping around between different characters. Also, lots of telling what happened instead of showing. And, finally, a rather graphic sex scene in the last few pages of the book. Really? The romance between those two characters was one of the most unbelievable things in the book. I think the female character was only there so the author could write about her breasts and then throw in the scene at the end.
review 2: This was a good read. It was written like a Steven King novel (i.e. The Stand) where each chapter propels the story forward a little bit for a different character. Unfortunately, that means that the book is filled with tons of little cliffhangers, and the reader has to re
... moread a couple of chapters (with their own cliffhangers) before learning what happens. The author did a good job of leading us through the story and giving the reader a true ending. I'm not sure if I'll move on to book 2, since I do not like to read books about wars, but this one was satisfying and well written. less

I couldn't even finish this. Seemed promising but it quickly became an effort to keep going.
