review 1: I have now read all 25 of the books in this series, in order. This is the worst of them and I probably would have abandoned the series sooner if it had come earlier. Even some of the trial scenes were tedious, and they are usually the best part of the book. A MacBeth theme runs through it hamhandedly, complete with three witches, and quoted lines tossed in where they just seem cliched. The hired killers are caught,of course, as is the man behind the killers, but it's all pretty ho-hum.
review 2: Not my favorite Butch Karp novel. There isn't any real conflict; Butch and Marlene just roll along, conveniently gathering whatever witnesses or evidence they need for the obvious successful conclusion. And it pretty much is just Butch and Marlene without any involvemen... moret with their interesting kids and shady underworld figures. Frankly, this is just an excuse for Tanenbaum to obsess about Macbeth. less
