review 1: I was really looking forward to reading this - a "new" author for me. It got off to a good start - a real page turner, exciting, easy to read and the plot made me want to keep reading to find out what happened. But, half way through, everything changed. Suddenly, loads of different characters were introduced and I got very confused and had to keep turning back to try and identify who they were! Maybe if I was reading it in one sitting - e.g. on holiday - I could have coped with the plot but I was reading in short bursts. It is extremely rare for me to give up on a book - I can usually struggle to the end but, unfortunately, in this case, I couldn't even do that. So, I am left with not even knowing what "the darkest secret" is!!!
review 2: If you are
... more expecting this to be as good as the Falcon series, you will be disappointed. On the other hand it is not a bad book in that it keeps your attention throughout and the action keeps an even keel. The story has a large number of Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim, Irish and English characters, in addition to intelligence agencies, police and private consultants. This made the book unnecessarily complicated and requires a scorecard to keep them straight. The story is your basic kidnap with several twists thrown in. less

Gripping and fast paced. Edge of the seat for most of the book.

Roter seg litt bort. Altfor mange navn å holde styr på.
