review 1: I absolutely loved the first book but the second did not live up to my expectations. I kept waiting for some more thrilling action but was a bit disappointed when Katiya was surrounded by such petty talk of balls and cat fights between the girls. I would have loved a little but more of George. Kept waiting for him to come up in the next scene and I guess that was the point. Overall I still have hope for the Katerina series and can't wait for the next book.

... moren the plot, and I have a hard time remembering who is allied to who. I think Katiya is a great protagonist- strong, independant, and determined, and I really enjoyed getting to know the other girls at the Smolny Institute (Elena and Alix) in this book. less
