review 1: I love the details and time setting of this book. I feel as though I'm actually there, since there's so many details. At times I got frustrated because I didn't like the decisions the main character was making. The book towards the end especially was action packed. The dialogue between characters was also very interesting to read. I though it was a good sequel to the first book, The Unfailing Light.
review 2: This second book was great in this trilogy. Katiya and George are ensconced in continual intrigue and danger. Her life as a necromancer is not what she wanted but she has helped the tsar twice now in fighting Konstantin. Will she be able to be with her true love or be forever bound to her blood tie? I loved the Russian backdrop and description of the m... moreany balls, costumes, and details shared about it all. Can't wait for the next book which I have pre-ordered. less
