review 1: There were 5 stories and I like 4 of 5, so 4 stars overall. Phoenix & Hellhound were fabulous. Really nice. Fireworm was ... just weird. It went for old pre-historic/mythology type story telling and I just didn't care for the flow. Salamander was a cute little story which I enjoyed. First Flight was the longest of the 5 and a little slower to start, as expected, but it had good character development and I thought it was a good read.
review 2: In this collection of five short stories, the authors bring to life a variety of fire creatures from myth, including the phoenix, the dragon, the fire salamander, the fireworm, and a hellhound. The story “Hellhound” is especially good, following a teenager as she chooses her first pet. For veteran followers of either author or newcomers to their work, this collection is both approachable and delightfully entertaining. less

The last story is quite excellent! The other stories are good too, but the last is the best!

Firstflight, the final story in this anthology, is so splendid it's worth the whole book.

5 stories--each unique and compelling. I liked the Water stories better.
