review 1: The leader who had no title would make it to my recommended list - for the reason that it has some really good 'back to the basics' stuff. However, I did feel that the narrative could have been much more compelling. But Robin compensates for the lack of pace with enough of advice condensed in short paragraphs. The initial chapters are very slow, but looks like someone was in a hurry as the book moves to the end. Despite all of this, I would recommend this book as most would have something to takeaway.
review 2: This book basically takes all the favorite tricks of pushy evangelists--saying your first name way too often, grandiose but vague promises, unnecessarily withholding "important" information that is the "key" to "unlocking" something, encouraging the stat... moreus quo by telling people to always do their best no matter what their position in life is--and then combines it with very poor writing.It reads like an early '90s after-school special, complete with all the straw man dialogue and aw shucks revelations you can imagine.And honestly, while the duplicitous charlatanism of the content is really frustrating, what offends me the most is how bad the writing is. That, more than anything, suggests how the author really feels about his readers: he can't even be bothered to take the time and write something worthwhile, because he knows they'll buy it anyway and he apparently doesn't respect them enough to give them his all. less
