review 1: Suffering from empty nest syndrome after her siblings have moved out, Erin Foley takes time off work and moves to her brother-in-law's cabin for a long overdue vacation. Erin is startled when a man with a bushy beard and a long knife walks out of the woods. Aiden Riordan is a doctor, taking a break from work after leaving the Navy. After a rough first meeting, Aiden finds Erin intriguing and wants to get to know her better. But when Aiden's ex-wife steps back into the picture, his relationship with Erin may be in jeopardy.Aiden is probably my favorite hero in the Virgin River. Of course, he has lots of competition in this series. I thought Erin and Aiden were perfect for each other. And, Aiden's ex-wife made the story even more interesting. I would give this book 5 stars, ... morebut I didn't care for the story about Mel wanting to have another baby through a surrogate or adoption. I didn't like the way she treated her husband and didn't listen to anything he had to say. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
review 2: It would have gotten another star if there had not been so much explicit sex and some language. When ruin a good story, which this was. Erin Foley has led a strange life, she started taking care of her younger siblings when she was only 11 years old when her mom died and her dad went into a tail spin. He died when she was 18 so now she had sole custody of her brother and sister while she was going to law school. Now at 35 her sibs are on their own and she is suffering from empty nest syndrome. She fixes up the family cabin in the mountains and plans to spend the summer on vacation, which she has never had even a small vacation before. Things don't start off well because she doesn't know how to relax and then Aiden makes an appearance looking like a homeless bum. But things begin to turn around and you can guess what happens. The redeeming quality of the book is that several people start to change their lives and become centered and a lot more happy. This is #11 in the Virgin River Series. less
