review 1: A heart-warming tale of a girl, Dani, determined to be happy - even though her best friend moved away and two classmates are mean to her when a boy they like decides to pay attention to Dani instead. Lots of pencil drawings make this accessible to readers just graduating from Early Readers. I especially liked the resolution that when the mean girls get into trouble and are told to say "sorry", they don't; but Dani decides to forgive them anyway.
review 2: This is a sweet story-- its translated from Swedish and there are parts that (sadly) would not translate to most American children.Example: a child is bullied at school and she runs home. Should an American elementary student leave campus it would be cause for major consequences. It is a sweet, sad, real tale ... moreof children's emotions and friendship. Also, and perhaps most important the illustrator is the amazing Eva Eriksson of the "Sam" books (Sam's Car, Sam's Potty, Bear, Ball, etc)-- perfectly illustrated. less
