review 1: Forced to flee and be separated from Dwayne, Faye retreats to college. Shockingly she finds she is unwittingly a celebrity due to her disappearance and appearance whilst in Ireland.Faye loves Dwayne and only has a token of his promise of his commitment in a gold band fastened around her wrist. It will stay fastened as long as Dwayne wills it to be so. Faye is determined to find a way for her to free him from being trapped in LisTirna, she turns to her powers and seeks for someone to teach her how to use them. This sends her on a journey to Peru seeking a Death god who has a fierce and gruesome reputation. If he should kill her, it would be preferable than to live life without Dwayne. A wonderful addition to the series. Once again there is a story of self discovery and adve... morenture. I couldn't help but like the characters as they are well written and believable. I enjoyed the concept and plot immensely.I'm left wishing, hoping, praying that there will be a book 3 and that it'll be coming out soon.
review 2: Oh God what happened after the first one? Where did this go? I hate it when a sequel to a book a really liked competely changes and contradicts the first installment! So first of all; an Amercan girl goes missing in Ireland but reappears - no and I mean absolutely NO magazine would put that girl on the cover. A local newspaper might print out a short statement, that's it. This entire media frenzy that was created about her was just ridiculous! I hated it. Then let's think back to Faye from the first book: the one that stayed away from humans because it hurt her and them too much? Yeah, well she's gone. She has two friends in college that are her bffs and she hangs around with them all the time as if she had never been a bit more reserved. She also turned plain stupid - oh there's a woman in the river who grabbed my feet and tried to drown me? I better go and talk to her! Oh no, she's trying to kiss me, this is what Dayne told me about, I'm gonna die...... Seriously? How about thinking before jumping in?Then she sees Dayne and he let's her go, the bracelet falls off. So she traves to Peru to find Chassan, the sun God and get him to teach her about her powers even though they're not even the same. But okay. The moment Chassan enters the picture, it's as if she hadn't been completely obsessed with Dayne at all. Suddenly it's all about Chassan's amazing body as he soaks up the sun half naked. It's all about his amazing strength and his intruiging character - and you know he killed his brothers so he is such a bad boy. Then she meets this native tribe and instantly bonds with a little girl and feels the need to protect her forever, yeah because that just happens to every one. She then goes on to blatantly disrespect the tribes culture and gets angry with Chassan if he scolds her because of it. They argue but after a short while it's all okay, because remember how hot he is! Oh and even though she searched for him to have him teach her how to use her powers, they will spent most of their time doing anything but learn about those powers. But let's focus on this tingly feeling everytime Chassan touches her and let's kiss him because aww he isn't so bad and obviously she is the only one he can stand to touch. Love triangle alert!! And I had been so happy when this was pretty quickly avoided in the first one with Luke. Faye returns to LisTirna and Dayne, the strong, dark and confident semi-god is actually nothing but a weak, whining puppy who follows on his mother's leash. There was nothing left to him that reminded me of the Dayne from Heirs of Earth and it was just sad and painful to read. In the end somehow Faye ends up the new queen which made me even madder. Didn't Dayne do an excellent job of explaining to all of us in the first book how the crown is passed from one generation to the next? Just like human royalty, the eldest son or daughter is the lucky winner. But hey, let's change the rule in the second one!No no no no no no no no no! Why why did this series that started out intriguing and really had me hooked turn into this? less
