review 1: I'm not rating this book as I did not complete reading it and I don't feel it fair to rate a book that I did not complete. It was nothing to do with the book itself, I sometimes just have moments where I am not feeling the book even though it has a lovely writing style or story to it. Sadly I just could not get into this lovely book and have since passed it on to someone else to give it a go. Thank you to the author who supplied me with a copy for review and I am sorry that it ended up being one that just wasn't my style of book.
review 2: Delightful rambling story of a woman's escape from her life in England to rural France. Evocative descriptions of the place and characters with whom she becomes involved are all so masterfully drawn, you feel as if you are ac... moretually there. Beautifully written, although for me I would have preferred a bit more pace to the actual plot, which was a tad too leisurely at times. Having said that, it's a book I'd recommend to anyone who fancies a taste of life in France, without moving home! Good summer read. less
