review 1: I picked this up at an airport, based entirely on the cover art and didn't expect much. Luckily enough, this book was AWESOME! I had no idea weird westerns existed, let alone that they could be so enjoyable. The writing is reminiscent of Simon Green and Jim Butcher (early Dresden). There's a fascinating town built up, with a great end of the world story... It's hard to explain, but definitely worth a read.
review 2: A peculiar little Weird West adventure which blends Western, Steampunk, Apocalyptic, Horror and C'thulu-esque apocalypse into a single strange adventure. A very interesting setting with great depths left unrevealed. The theological elements were very odd, ranging from classic Gnosticism and Mormonism to Native American and Chinese mythology. A wide
... more array of interesting characters. The great cast and interesting setting actually suffered a bit condensed into a single novel as many of the more interesting backstories were told directly rather than revealed through narrative action. Overall a good book (more for its characters and setting than the specific plot of this offering) and worth a read if you are a fan of the genres listed above. Hoping to see a sequel (or short story anthology or comic book where these stories could truly shine). less

Read only if you like fantasies with everything thrown in including the kitchen sink.

Good, well written, and lots of fun, but tried to deal with too much in one book.
