review 1: In a world where everyone is talking about leadership, I tend to be a bit skeptical when offered another book on leadership. However, I was so thankful once I started reading. When everyone seems to be telling you to lead harder, faster, stronger (and to hell with you if you fail) this book offers a life-giving and practical alternative... Notice I said practical, and not easy or simplistic. Barton is talking about a full-on paradigm shift in our leadership thinking that allows people to be people, and that engages God as God (rather than ignoring God and expecting people to pick up the slack).Barton is thoughtful and thought-provoking. She moves fluidly between instruction, examples, application, and meditation.I highly recommend reading this with a measured pace - don't ... morerush through it!
review 2: This book can sound intimidating. Especially after you read the first chapter. Self-analyzation can be a scary thing because who knows what you will find. I learned that searching your soul is vital to leading others, and just living a life pleasing to the Lord. Searching your soul will keep us from temptation, and will keep us strong as we continue about daily routine. I learned that the soul will get what the soul wants whether its done in a healthy way or not. less
