A Seaside Knitters Mystery

review 1: I enjoy knitting and there have been several series of books about knitting shops and the friends who knit there. So when I discovered there's a set of mysteries with knitting as a theme, I found the first book, Death by Cashmere, and started reading. I was a bit disappointed since this book didn't measure up to the others I've read. One of the problems is that there are a lot of characters and there isn't a lot of time spent introducing the reader to each person. So for most of the book, I could not keep the characters straight and thus the story didn't flow. I was almost done by the time I got to know the main characters. The story was easy to read but didn't keep my interest until the end. I did like the ending though. Although it was not one of my favorites, I will pro... morebably read the second book in the series.
review 2: This was a good "fluff" read, the first in a series of murder mysteries solved by a group of hungry, knitting women. The writing was actually decent, but it felt a bit too long (could have just been the mood I was in) and a bit too focused on the meals that they ate. I will continue to read other books in the series as "filler" books (books to read between my two book club picks), as I found some of the characters to be endearing. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars. less
