A Seaside Knitters Mystery
review 1: Patterns in the Sand (Seaside Knitters #2) is Sally Goldenbaum's follow up to her "cosy mystery" Death by Cashmere. I am a huge fan of Ms. Goldenbaum's Seaside Knitters mysteries. The characters are well drawn and likable. The town of Sea Harbor is the fictional New England town of our dreams, complete with its' Canary Cove art colony. I want to live in Sea Harbor, take knitting classes at Izzy Chambers Seaside Knitting Studio and wind down on Friday nights at Ben and Nell's house eating a delicious home cooked dinner made by Nell, while talking and laughing and sipping one of Ben's famous martinis. When I say that the murder(s) are almost incidental to the pleasure of spending time with all these new "friends"...it's true. I have figured out the murderer before the en... moreding but that in no way ruined my pleasure in reading the books. These books are a treat...and they come with a knitting pattern in the back of each one, a little bonus. Put your feet up, relax, and enjoy. I'm looking forward to the next one...
review 2: Another nice summer afternoon read. The weather here in CO was perfect for reading a Seaside Knitters mystery: a slight breeze blowing through the dying leaves making them rustle gently. A young stranger comes to town and two prominent artists die soon after. Is she to blame? Lost paintings from a famous New England artist, a bossy art council president, an angry former lover that perhaps isn't what she appears and an unknown artist dying for his talent to be recognized - these are some of the threads that the Seaside Knitters must unravel to solve the latest murders in their not so quiet Sea Harbor town. less
