review 1: Thoroughly enjoyable. I read it in about one sitting (i had to sleep at some point) This was a dessert book for me. As far as desserts go, its a bit like jello: it hits the spot, there's always room for more, and it was lacking a bit in substance. The characters fell neatly into their roles of villain or hero or what-have-you. No real crossover in that department. Had a bit of an I saw that coming feel and the plot seemed more nuanced than substantial. I look forward to the next volume and anticipate the development of the plot with some good descriptions.
review 2: I was so surprised when I started reading the book and realised it was written in the second person! It was a little hard to get my head around at first but if you are considering reading this book,
... more don't be deterred by the odd choice of second person perspective because it only lasts for the first few chapters of the book. You also shouldn't be deterred because it's a good book! The plot is intriguing and I soon found myself dying to know all the details about the world the protagonist has been brought up in, and of course why he's trapped in a cage in the beginning of the book! The story gives you everything you could want in a book; mystery, action and (the best part for me) you're not smothered with the small romance part of the plot! Half Bad isn't half bad (ha ha), I would definitely recommend this book to fans of fantasy looking for something different that they can really get their teeth into. less

Good voice, but the story was mostly nonsense.
