review 1: This book was overly long, primarily due to the high number of sex scenes. About two thirds of the way through the story, I began skimming the sex in order to get to the story. The story itself was pretty good. The heroine, Megan, has had a hard life and married an older man who treated her like a daughter in order to save her from a life in a brothel. Megan is raising the husband's two little girls and she is a helpless victim of her greedy, rancher neighbor who rustled their cattle and raped her besides. Enter, the older man's son, Devin, just as the old husband is dying. The son is....well, he's just unbelievable, really. He's six foot nine, huge and brawny, can kill 25 men single-handedly and loves no one but his horse. Former outlaw, yet has a good heart, rai... moresed by sweet spinster aunts, he never preys on women and children and he just needs the love of a good woman to get his life on track. Most amazingly, he has 12 inches in his britches which he uses frequently in the aforementioned sex scenes. Somehow, [don't ask me how], the heroine manages not only to have sex with this man and enjoy it, but she takes on her long-time first love at the same time, and the story becomes a menage love story. Now it IS a love story. These characters are really in love; it's just that the sex is just a little over the top in this book. I don't think people could really accomplish that much lovemaking every day, and believe me, in real life, this gal would have some internal damage from the stuff they were doing! They were living on a working ranch and you never see any ranch work getting done. LOLThe storyline follows the softening of Devin's hard heart as it turns to mush over the cute little girls, as he falls in love with Megan, as he saves her from the horrible neighbors and vengeful outlaws. He accepts Megan's long-time friend and first love, Caleb, into their relationship just b/c Megan loves him too and he can see how much Caleb loves her. The ending is satisfying when all becomes well: the outlaw gets pardoned, he settles down with Megan AND the gal's childhood sweetheart, the two little girls get not one but two fathers, and they all live HEA. Don't read this if you are looking for a gritty, realistic yarn. But if you just wanna escape reality for a few hours into a western fantasy land, this book will provide some entertainment.
review 2: This one was OK. Not great. The biggest problem I had was the lack of editing. I find it very hard to get turned on when the page is full of typos and careless grammatical errors. Considering that this book was pretty expensive, they really could have had someone check it a little more carefully.I also didn't find the naughty parts all that exciting. More like, OUCH!And then there was the "Yeah, sure" factor. Much of it was just not physically possible so instead of getting excited I was snorting and rolling my eyes. less
