review 1: I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this novel. The characters were engaging and in depth. The novel also looked at many different perspectives about mother child relationship but adhere to the center core of the story. Moreover, I was able to follow deeply into each psychological turmoils and dilemmas. Somehow Hayes narrative reminds me of Sharon Bolton's Lacey Flint series. Another female writer I like.
review 2: It is an easy read. It kept me interested enough, but I wasn't wishing I had extra reading time to spend on this book. This is the longest it has taken me to read a book in awhile.
