review 1: Sweet, hot, funny little fluffy romance. I love the fake fiance/girlfriend/wife trope. This one was ok but I wanted more. I know this is the Brazen series so don't expect over the top emotion or angst, but the plot was somewhat thin. Seemed almost rushed. Liked Michael - lovely hunky Marine. Chloe was annoying at times but she grew on me. Not the best, in my humble opinion, but will definitely continue to reach books by this author.
review 2: Wonderful book surprisingly! Some of these books are offered at under $1 so I snap them up, but I don't hold my breath that I'll like them all that much. Michael is in the service and can't fly at the moment due to his back injury. His doctor sends him to the staff massage therapist & that is when he meets Chloe...ag... moreain! Their initial meeting is when Michael rescued his neighbor Chloe when she was seductively dressed & handcuffed to her bed, waiting for a hot date who never arrived. They shared a brief moment of passion but then Michael ran, only because he jolted something in his back. Little circumstances leave Chloe in the lurch without a car, job or apartment & Michael feels responsible - they were caught in a compromising position which led to her getting fired. Chloe is young but is already married & divorced, choosing to be a traveling therapist to run away from her past. Michael is a typical soldier, everything in its place, nice & clean & tidy. He is the opposite of Chloe in every way - he is sick of being shipped around the world & wants to find a place to stay for a while. And Chloe is definitely quirky & a little messy & lives in the moment. They have to form an elaborate story as to why they are living together & eventually Michael doesn't want her to leave, and Chloe can't force herself to stay no matter how much she wants Michael in her life permanently. Michael has some serious dirty sexy talk & I actually fell in love with this couple. When he runs after Chloe Michael has one of the best lines I've ever read. Chloe has a hummingbird tattoo - she calls it her "free bird" tattoo now that she is divorced. Michael wants to give that hummingbird a home, a solid place to feel safe & loved & secure. He said it WAY better than I just did. :) I don't usually cry when I read but I was tearing up! Nice book! less
