review 1: I recently received a copy of A Fighting Man by Sandrine Gasq-Dion and while I expected to enjoy it, I did not expect to relate to the story so closely, since I am female. However, like the MCs, I have lived in New York City, which is a great place. Also similar to Slater Cassidy, the Army Ranger in the story, I too have served in the military (Air Force for me). Unfortunately, also like Slater, I spent time in Walter Reed Army Hospital (now WR National Military Medical Center) for a service-connected disability. While my disability was nowhere near as severe as Slater’s, I also saw many more seriously injured patients during my stay at the hospital. I thought that Casper’s hesitance in becoming involved with a military member after losing his first boyfriend to t... morehe war in the Middle East was very understandable. I enjoyed reading about how Slater wore him down, until they both realized how serious their relationship had become. I cheered Casper on when he left Slater at Walter Reed after the horrible accusations Slater hurled at Casper. Of course I knew they would still have a HEA, and laughed over the trick played on Casper to ensure it. A Fighting Man is a fun love story with serious subplots that more people need to read.
review 2: A really, really nice love story about "Slater" wearing down "Casper" to become his own. Great lines and even better antics from Slater in his quest. Definitely a different read than normal from the author but it just shows her diversity when writing. I thought she handled the heartbreak, stresses of war and devastation it can leave on loved ones, with dignity and thoughtfulness and showed the courage many of our boys go through when returning wounded from a war-torn world. Well done author. Again, I'm reading a book from a series out of order, but I certainly want to read a "Betting Man" and a "Marrying Man". less
