review 1: Normally I love asshole characters. I love seeing them change into someone I could admire and respect by the end of a story after some self-reflection and change of attitude. But that failed to happen in this one. The two characters (Blaine & Kent) that were best friends were still assholes at the end and nonredeemable, IMO. All the apologies and groveling felt ungenuine. More like they were sorry they got caught making a bet.....a bet they had made between each other before. Maybe not the exact same bet, but ones that fucked with other people's feelings. So knowing this horrendous behavior was done in the past for sport, made it impossible for me to like either of them. Their outlook towards other people who were not of their class (like they were trash) and their self-en... moretitlement when it comes to bedding hot women/men, left a horribly bad taste in my mouth at the end, even after Kent & Terry made up which was touching, but still felt flat to me. There was no chemistry between them. There wasn't enough written to give a plausible reason why Terry would even LIKE Kent, let alone love him, other than his hick southern family, which he found charming. Speaking of which, Kent's family was ridiculous. I often felt maybe the author was trying to be TOO cute in writing them. I could hardly stand to read their scenes. Overall, this was a blah, predictable read.
review 2: 4.5 'Loved Kinnay and Terrance' stars.Shorter reads need to grab you from the get go and this book did everything it needed to. Interesting storyline that grabbed me and kept my interest, characters that I loved from page one. Well I do have a soft spot for hot, arrogant, assholes, especially when there is more to them and Kent definitely fell into that category in the beginning but as the story went on and we saw the real 'Kinnay' I loved him. And Terry well there was nothing to not love about Terry at any point! Loved them!Awesome chemistry and banter between not only the main characters but the side ones too!Loved it and gonna start 'A Marrying Man' immediately. YAY! less
