review 1: I loved the banter between Lucy and Jack, very funny at times and also very sad. These two characters were bound by a past together, that definitely brought out the mistrust in each other. Neither wanting to let go of that past, for fear they would in turn be hurt. Emotional by all means with Lucy being on her own at such a young age and not getting the help she needed, to Jack that could not see what help was needed at that time. Now depending on each other to keep the past ghosts from causing any more tragedy, they laugh, love, trust, and deny all they can until there is nothing else but to deal with it all, and stop the past from ruining the future. I give this a 4 star rating.
review 2: Lucy Maddox has left her life of lying and thievery behind to beco
... moreme a PI - until she needs those skills to find a friend who's missing. In comes Jack Finnegan, attorney and campaign manager for a politico Lucy suspects is involved in the disappearance. It wasn't a BAD book, but for some reason it just seemed never-ending. The sparks between Lucy and Jack went on and on, the lack of trust went on as long, but the core story line was good enough to keep me plodding along to finish. Definitely more of a 'romantic' than suspense, which (for me who prefers it the opposite) was too bad.If you're one of those who prefer the romance to the crime, then you'll like this one. I probably will hold off on any more in the series. less
