review 1: I hope Ms. Allen writes A LOT more! I'm following her! I love the fantasy mixed with reality; I'd love to have wallpaper that changed with your moods, or the in anticipation of what will happen today. Thanks for the gentle handling of a REALLY tall person like Mr. Wadlow, who was "different." I did think that the two teenagers were a little like West Side Story in their rebellion against his parents for their (to me) silly prejudices, but then I've never lived in a small town. Excellent.
review 2: A sweet novel, with endearing characters living in a quirky town. I read this in less than 3 hours, so I liked it enough to fly through it, however, I didn't love it. It just perfectly embodies a holiday/summer/vacation read, thus is perfect for today (Thanksgivi
... moreng!).This novel could be described as being chick lit, but could almost be YA. Chick lit because there are multiple romances in the works and the other topics themselves are not serious, but easily digestible. YA because the main character is a teenager, and it follows a typical YA story line of a teenager out of her element, meeting new people, falling in love, going through some hardships, etc. It's not the type of novel I read usually, however, it was chosen in a book club I recently joined. I had never heard of the author before, so I am glad I was introduced to someone new, even if I doubt I'll choose to read anything else by her.I don't want to give anything away, but if you decide to read this, don't expect anything spectacular, either in writing style or story line. This isn't anything especially memorable, but is easy to read. It's just a sweet story, filled with likable characters, multiple romances, and some 'magic' as well. less
