review 1: Coyotes, Spider Man, teenagers looking to break free, older gents with messed up lives--I like it almost four stars. It's an addictive read that was fun and odd. It gives off this complicated feeling of being in a world we live in but that also doesn't exist. There's magic there and also reality. The wonky ending dropped my rating, but that's my issue because I wasn't ready for the story to end so I'm pouting.

Or rather, I was thrown off by the title and it took me a while to get into the book and figure out what it was really about (which is not, sadly, Spiderman and is only marginally about comic books). The main character is bored with high school, ready to move to France, but instead meets a guy who calls himself Peter Parker and encourages her to join him in figuring himself out as well. I liked the supernatural element (Parker has dreams that seem to predict the future) and wish there was more of that. I also enjoyed the dynamics between the characters, but the book was a little too whiny for me. less
