review 1: The topic of "Child Abduction" is a tough topic to discuss, because it can be difficult to understand. This story helps a lot, because the way it is written describes in great depth how a child or teen can fall under the trap of predators through the internet. I liked this book overall, the story wasn't dramatized in any way. The book did cover a serious topic and portrayed a young girl who was manipulated to believe that a random stranger had become "the one" because he "understood" this girl. The author was also able to make the book relatable with the difficulties of going to high school and dealing with bullies, relationships, and families.
review 2: Poor poor tweens and teens, so flush with youth and hormones and over-inflated sense of ego... Prime targets... more for creepy adults who want to do bad things to them. I loved how many times it's mentioned that these kids have all had Internet Safety seminars since like grade 4, and still they fall for the grooming techniques of predators. 'Cause ain't it the truth? The best way to get a person to do something is to tell him not to.I really liked how the book was structured, giving Abby's sister and friends' POVs in order to show just how many people can be effected by one person's mistakes.I was a bit disappointed with the cliched ending, but what are ya gonna do?But not bad on the whole, tells it like it is. I would even go so far as to say that this should be required reading, but I doubt tweens and teens have the maturity not to get hung up on the dirty bits and miss the message. less
