review 1: This, almost poem like play by Sarah Ruhl takes a Greek Myth and turns it into a kind of glowing little story that activates genuine emotion in the reader. The only thing that prevents me from giving it five stars is the feeling I was left with. It is an unquestionably competent play, but I think that short of seeing it performed I won't ever be able to understand it's full scope. The language is altogether beautiful, and the story is in turns cloying and genuinely warm. I would absolutely be interested in reading more by Sarah Ruhl, and I would be thrilled to see one of her plays actually performed.
review 2: This play was okay, but not all that spectacular. It didn't exactly click for me and I may, or may not, have a different impression of it had I seen it pe
... morerformed on-stage as opposed to reading it. Also, I wasn't very fond of how Hades was portrayed. He came off as really creepy, and not in a good way I get this is a reimagining of the original myth of Orpheus and Eurydice but I get why Hades is going after Eurydice when he already has a wife; otherwise it just doesn't make any sense to me. Oh Persephone, where are you when we need you?Again, I probably would have a different impression if I saw a performance of this, but other then that, not for me. less

It grew on me as I continued to read. I would love to see how a production of this is done.
