review 1: The series was an ok read, I enjoyed that the good or the bad guys were not as laid out as black and white. The series emphasised the question 'if someone is tricked with promises into doing bad things, does that make them bad/'. I especially like that the demons were the inherent bad guys as is the case with so many stories, but the humans were the ones doing the awful, unimaginable things.There were no overtly explicit sex scenes which is ok for young readers. I however thought the relationship between Harper and Jackson developed a little too quickly i'e the first kiss. I would recommend this series.
review 2: Eh. I wanted to like these books more than I actually did. I got so sick of the "I'm going to tell you something but then not the whole thing, and the... moren leave you wondering what's going on for the next 300 pages." I think that was trying to build suspense, but really I just felt like she forgot to tell you what happened and then all of a sudden was like "oh crap, here's what that secret actually was!" The plot was kind of interesting, but I also got sick of never knowing who you could trust, who you couldn't, who was lying, who was telling the truth, who was only telling part of the truth, etc etc etc. It was just annoying. The characters were more interesting as the series went on, thankfully, but even after only reading the first 3, I have no desire to read the rest. less
