Ash Mistry Chronicles
review 1: I taught that there was no myth-bringer aside from Rick Riordan. I was wrong. This book caught me in its claws from when Ash touched the tip of the aastra. I read and read and could not bring myself to stop, despite the fact that time was running quickly. The storyline was quick, there were a lot of struggles and complications. There are only 2 things I did not like: 1. his aunt and uncle died too quickly (hope that in book 2 they would be reincarnated or whatever) and 2. Ash was around for many millenia and yet he only saved everyone now and became a great hero. But aside from that, I give the book 5 stars- for it really was amazing
review 2: A bit bloodier than expected for the pre-teen level, but then it's just barely pre-teen -- the protagonist is thirteen,
... more and I've been told that a kid's book's audience tends to skew a year or two younger than its lead. Anyway, this was an entertaining read, though the present-tense flashbacks threw me briefly whenever they cropped up. Several nice thirteen-year-old boy moments, like when he's told that someone is an assassin and decides that's cool. Parvati was an appealing character, and the rest of the rakshasa were interesting and scary. Looking forward to reading book two. less

3.5 stars! The story is extremely intertwined with the religions of India.

The beginning was ok, but the ending worth it.
