review 1: This is Amelia's season to come out and find a marriageable man. Her brother sends her to relations in Baltimore but instead she finds that she can tell the future and finds a young man that is definitely not to be married. Her season does not go as planned and her life becomes very interesting! It is written in a style that coincides with the period in which it takes place. This makes a difficult to get started but the story does pull the reader in.
review 2: I liked the easy reading style of the book, and the setting... the first part of the book was light and fun, but the end was pretty dark, and I wondered why the author chose to treat the characters the way she did at the end. ... morenist looking back at her time in Baltimore, but it's very confusing whose voice the narrative represents. I thought it was the voice of a sister or close relative, but no, it's the heroine. Though I wouldn't say that I liked the ending, I thought about the book for awhile after I read it - more than I usually do, so it definitely made an impression on me. less
