review 1: For me Scarlet Hyacinth is usually a home run kind of author, but I have to say, aside from being utterly boring, I think I gained ten pounds on the sickly sweetness in this story. The sex scenes were endless. I'm all for fleshed out and descriptive sex scenes, but a few pages will suffice. These went on and on and on and.....oh god, on. There was the premise of a conflict, but every aspect of it was so easily resolved, I could literally see the yawns on the characters faces as it happened. I wonder where Ms. Hyacinths brain was while her fingers churned this one out. Still, because I've never been disappointed in one of her stories before, I grudgingly rated this on the high side.
review 2: Like the first two books in the series, this story is written wit
... moreh quite a bit of humor and a wonderful focus on the "foody" part of the characters' love for each other. From Belgian chocolates in book 1, to coffee and donuts in book 2, we now advance to mint ice cream. A predilection both Grier, the werewolf who is scared to death of vampires, and Orion, the vampire who is his mate, share and manage to include in several of their lovemaking scenes with great success. Oh, and the fact that both couples from the first two books were back as well was just – icing on the cake! Grier is a werewolf who has just been accepted by a new pack; the one led by Arden from book 2. He's been abused by his old pack (including emotional abuse by his adoptive parents), then abducted by a vampire – in short, he needs a rest. Not that he gets it. He meets yet another vampire, only this one is his mate. The meeting isn't even a little bit romantic – Orion is the one interrogating him about his kidnapping. Not that it stops Grier from recognizing him as his mate!Orion is not exactly a cuddly guy – he's considered aloof even by his fellow vampires. He does admit to a weakness for mint ice cream though, and as soon as he meets Grier, his priorities change. He isn’t even a little bit aloof with him, but recognizes Grier may need some time to get used to the fact that his mate is a vampire. And when the situation gets dangerous, and one revelation after another hits the new couple, Orion does a good job at protecting and standing by Grier. What more do you want from a mate?If you like stories with lots of humor as well as conflict, if you enjoy watching a werewolf and a vampire find a new balance as they get to know each other, and if you're looking for a hot read with an entertaining plot, then you will probably like this book. less

This book was on the boring side. For lack of a better word it lacked oomph.
