review 1: Interesting take on the fairy tales of our childhood. I for one get a perverse thrill out of reading about all of these traditional fairy tales made into gay male romances!! This first book in the series doesn't focus on any particular fairytale characters. It mostly is setting up the world and all of the fairytale minor characters who will Become main characters in future books. The main characters in this book were Dini and Kirril. Dini is a purple dragon shifter who lives in the land of Merlinia and Prince Kirril is a Arthurian which means he is basically a magicless human. There is also a land called Morgannan which we didn't learn much abt. But I would assume its where bad mages live. These 3 lands that comprise the world of Avalon seem to be pretechnology for the... more most part unless it is magic related or magic powered. I really liked this book! It was a fairly quick read but extremely enjoyable. I am planning to continue with the series immediately!
review 2: An amusing enough story about a shape-shifting dragon and his love affair with a wannabe dragon-slayer.This book sets the premise of a world of magical creatures who mildly resemble our own real world myths and legends. I found the take on this charming but the story itself wasn't too enthralling.Dini and Kirril are cute enough but I didn't feel invested in their romance. I wasn't quite drawn in.Nevertheless, the story was entertaining and I was happy to read the next installment. less
