review 1: I have been a total fan of Ms. Dawn since a complete fluke happened a while ago and I found King Hall and fell in love with it! I seriously couldn’t get enough of the book and I was so glad to start reading this one because I had such high hopes for it, and I can say that I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest when I finished this book. Ok that’s a fib, I can’t believe she did this to us! Why the cliffhanger Ms. Dawn?!?!?!?But besides that, I do have to say that you do need to read book 1 in the series, King Hall, to be able to fully understand this book because there is just so much action and details that you will miss by not reading it. I was so glad with how things played out in this book though because some of the unanswered questions that we were left wit... moreh after book 1, were answered in this book. But on the same hand, we are left with a bunch more.I did enjoy being able to watch as the characters grew more in this book and were able to come into their own throughout the book. The different strengths that each of them had were expanded upon and matured in their own sense. Overall, I really enjoyed this book so much that I can’t wait for book 3 to be released because it was that amazing! Ms. Dawn has a fan for life!Reviewed by Crystal Marie for Crystal’s Many Reviewers*Copy provided for review*
review 2: I love the first novel. I flew through it and could not wait to start on the second one. I cannot even express how much better this one gets. We get to see our main characters grow individually and as a couple, which was a long time in coming.I'm so grateful for the continued world building and politics at play surrounding our beloved Lily and Ezra (Pearl and Jack too). I only wished there was a prequel to get more on the elders. They added so much to what was going on around Lily. I also really appreciated the continued building of Lily's and Antonio's father/daughter relationship. This review would not be complete without acknowledging the steamy scenes between Lily and Ezra. In the first one, it was really all about building that tension as Lily wasn't really ready for more than a friendship. So glad it did not stay that way. It was truly a roller coaster ride with those two.I must say, that ending... woof. Could it have been more heartbreaking? To see Lily's frustration and despair after she had grown so much was just so devastating. For us, the readers, to know what she has lost when she doesn't even know it herself was a lot to handle. It will be interesting so see where Scarlett takes us in the next book, which cannot come soon enough! less
