review 1: I think I got a lead on this through BookBub.  I liked the title and enjoy keeping short stories on my nook.  I found this collection quite enjoyable and found the authors choice and use of words interesting and well done.  A couple of the early stories fell flat but in main the overall book is good.  My favorites were "Advent Santa" due to the very real feel of the incident and snapshot view of the character interaction. That followed by "I knew Gable Roy Henry".  This story conjured many memories of my young school days (where I also sang in choir) and incidents in which I was involved.  I recommend this writer and will be seeking out more of his work.
review 2: An extraordinary collection of short and longer stories from a wholly refreshing literary vo
... moreice. Garson's concise style possesses that hypnotic, effortless quality that is so difficult to pull off, impossible to resist, and warrants multiple rereads. Through the careful construction of his narratives to his eye for the strange, his attention to the line to his devotion to all that lives between lines (here is an author who knows precisely what to include and what to withhold) Garson achieves a startling balance of restraint, ache, and humor on every page. less

Good collection - my slightly lower rating probably says more about my aesthetic than the book.
