review 1: To be honest, this isn't the best book I have ever read and I know you're thinking "then why did you give it such a high rating?" and I'm here to tell you why. This book may not be the best written or may not even have the best developed characters; however, there is no denying that each and every character and scene somehow manages to pull you in. Maybe it's the confusion of the plot that you know is going to be solved at the end? Or maybe it's the hilarious lingo and scenarios that you only wish you could fathom how the author thought of? Either way, the premise and ending of this book was genius. There is something about this mystery that is different from any other and there is no way you will guess the end (there are far too many twists and turns that even the smartes... moret 'Euclidian' couldn't crack) (you'll find out who those people are once you get a hold of the book). Anyway I think this is a great read and if you want to get yourself into mysteries this is a great book to dip your feet in the water with! And, finally, this book has a killer last line that with give you chills. It's literally genius! So if you find no other reason to read this whole book (which isn't too long) it's for the last line of the book! A must read! Thanks if you read my review! : )
review 2: Kinky, racy, crazy, and totally unique, You Killed Wesley Payne chronicles a teenaged PI and his journey through a high school where students travel in packs and have wars over playground insults. Dalton Rev is just a 17 year old, hard-boiled, scooter riding, leather-jacket wearing private detective. He comes to Salt River High on a case; a body, found wrapped in duct tape, hanging upside down from the goalposts on the football field. Thrown into a world where no one is ever as they seem, Dalton has to find who killed Wes Payne before the unfriendlies breathing down his neck catch him first. I actually really enjoyed this novel, however crazy and odd it may be. This world that Sean Beaudoin has created is obviously our own, and yet, it has it's own system of working, even it's own language. Dalton Rev himself is a great character, with a persona you don't expect to see on a 17 year old boy. I love that he wears a leather jacket over his shirt and tie, which is over his t-shirt; I think that that is a great idiosyncrasy that makes this character great. I didn't expect the ending at all, and I really liked how much the novel twisted and turned. If you liked Going Bovine, read You Killed Wesley Payne. less
