review 1: Really liked. Interesting story could have been nothing new, except I liked the heart of the story told by the young widow left with two small children she truly loved and to whom she had been mother after meeting their father following their birth mother split with post Parton depression and intended to never return. Surrounded by her loving in-laws, she tries to rebuild, when the birth mother shows up and wants the kids back. Very good characters amid relationships as she now must navigate the birth mothers wants and the children's needs, who consider her their mommy. She finds that birth mom had tried to reconnect much earlier than was known, and has to decide what to do about this legally. Evenly narrated with compassion for all involved. I would be eager to read a... morenother book by this author if there was one.
review 2: Sere Prince'in okuduğum ilk kitabı. yazarın hayatını okuduğumda güzel bir kitap okumak üzere olduğumu düşünmüştüm nitekim öyle de oldu. kitabın konusu güzel, klasik bestseller çizgisinden uzak. Önemli konulara değinilmiş ve belli ki Sere aile çöküşlerini, bunun hukuki ve sosyal yanlarını, üvey anne-baba konularını epeyce araştırıp gözlemlemiş. Bunun dışında kitap, insanların iyi ya da kötü olması gibi kalıplaşmış fikirleri bir kenara iterken her bir karaktere iki yönden de bakabiliyor. Sere sanırım İtalyan kökenli. Kitapta sıkça Amerika'da yaşayan İtalyanlardan ve onların kültürlerinden bahsediyor. Ayrıca 40'lı yıllarda Amerika'da İtalyanlar için bir kamp kurulduğu hiç bilmiyordum, öğrenmiş oldum.Kitapta en sevdiğim nokta anne-çocuk ilişkisi işlenirken buna enfes yemek tasvirlerinin eklenmiş olması! less
