Treats to Tempt You
review 1: This was a really cute frenemies-to-lovers story. Tasha is best friends with Kole's sister, Maisey. Tasha and Maisey want to go into business together with a couple of other friends, but Kole already has an offer in on the retail space Tasha and Maisey have their hearts set on. The paperwork isn't signed yet because the owner is out of town for ten days. So Tasha and Kole make a bet. If Tasha falls for Kole in the ten days, Kole gets the space. If Kole falls for Tasha, Tasha gets the space. Once they drop their sarcastic retorts and really look at each other, sparks fly. It was really sweet to watch each of them give the other a bit of space to just be who they were without all the arguing and nitpicking. And they found they really fit well together. It's maybe a cliche st... moreory line, but I found Tasha and Kole to be a very sweet couple, and when they came together (literally, several times), it was kinda hot. Maybe it was because they had all this non-sexual history, but it was like they were discovering this combustible side to them as a couple. All's well that ends well, and there was a bit of jumping to conclusions at the end, but things worked out. This one was free, but I bought the set of 1-3 because it was $5, while individual 2 & 3 would be $4 each. So I'm looking forward to more from these New Zealand friends.
review 2: First I didn't like the bet. It was like: Aren't they a little bit too old for such a bet? How do you measure feelings? Why don't they think about what it means to their friendship? Why do they risk the dynamic of their group of friends? But when the story continued I forgot about those questions. It is an easy and okay read. The book includes a lot of erotic scenes but little plot. You can stop reading anywhere, skip some pages and continue to read from there on and you wouldn't have missed a thing. Unfortunately the main characters don't develope either. And I would have really liked reading a little bit more about their friends and families. From my Point of view the cover doesn't match the book. But that's probably just me. less
