review 1: I understand the basic concept of what was REALLY going on, but yet again there are the few things I still don't get, (even if they might be obvious).I see that Mashiro was supposed to travel to the real world, (because s/he was in a world full of non-dead, non-living people) with his/her sibling, but only one could pass through. But when you think about it, the world he was in was still a world, but they were never living, so what happens to the people who don't go to that specific school? How do they 'graduate'? Or how about adults? Maybe all the people are just fake? Hmm? And why could the other dreamers not get out? Just because Mashiro hadn't graduated yet, that usually doesn't happen. They all often remain asleep until the person graduates, but they ended up waking u... morep. Then they just randomly fell down and I'm just like: O.oAnd finally Mashiro was blown to bits. I just tried to explain what happened in this volume to my brother without all the romance drama, because I told him I was going through book trauma and I said something like:"So this guy, he fought everyone else with his friends to find a key, and then his friend had to kill his other friend to find the key, and this shadow person came along and killed the other friend, so the main character ran off with the key and was about to graduate but his nurse lady stopped him and they talked, and talked about stuff. He found out that he was supposed to graduate with his/her sibling (because his top half is boy and bottom half is girl) and they were always fighting one another but the girl one had killed the guy and ended up graduating, and he was blown up by the moon and he became a girl."I was speaking really fast and this all probably took me 15 seconds to say, and let me remind you that my brother has (had) no clue what this story was about, so I'll just leave his reaction up to your imagination. Was Kureha and Sou and all the other people not even real in the first place? That would be really depressing. Or since Mashiro's mother was calling out the names of people we knew, they were in the hospital too somehow... As adults? Being born? That just didn't make sense to me why they would be in the hospital, and at one point someone said Ichijo!! Is it just me or did someone else accidentally mistake the nurse/Sensei for Mashiro's new mother? Eh? Eh?It almost seems like there were three different Mashiro's. Male Mashiro, female Mashiro, and then there's Mashiro him/herself. Mashiro was male, and then female Mashiro comes along and is like: "Don't 'cha wanna be a girl?" And tried to kill Mashiro in order to have the beads, and then Mashiro's just like: "Holy crap I gotta kill this weirdo." So they battle it out and our Mashiro wins, but then he decides later that he does want to be a girl, so the next (and last) time they battle it out, our Mashiro is a girl and the guy version of him comes and is flipping out saying: "Didn't you want to be a boy this whole time?" Which in definition is really just saying "WHAT THE HECK YOU BETRAYED ME TO BE A GIRL IM GONNA KILL YOU NOW! KEEEEEL YOU!!!"And they battle it out and our Mashiro wins once again, (as a girl). The Mashiro we know would probably not be like "Give me your beads, lets battle this out", he's really only fighting for self-defense. So he fought the girl version of himself, and she was being violent, and he defended himself, then he fought the other version of himself as the girl but he was really only using self defense in that case too.Am I making any sense at all?Probably not.Changing the subject a little bit, Mashiro had that dream in the beginning of this volume. Ah yes. He continued to dream even when the class was over, (which proves that people can leave when others are still dreaming, which comes in later) and he was flipping out because the beads were gone and he was a complete female. Then s/he wakes up, (sorry I haven't been doing the s/he and her/his thing this whole time), and rushes to Sou to say "make me a girl." -.-Wait, what? You just have a nightmare about being a girl, and then the first (actually second) thing you say is that you want to be a girl? WHAT?The ending I have to admit was kind of cute. At first I was like: "Wait, is that Sou with glasses or the guy who was Mashiro's phone?" XD I like the ending a lot, and I guess I could say it was 'complete' enough for my taste. It's just those few couple things I didn't get...Even when Mashiro is re-born, she still had the same hairstyle so I couldn't get over the fact she still kind of looked like a guy. Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of girls in real life with short hair, (and it looks fine on them) but Mashiro's hair just looks so much more masculine than feminine. (Which I guess was the point because he was trying to be make earlier, but ended up being a girl.) Seriously, she just looks like a boy in female clothing. I've never like his/her hairdo... -_-As far as story lines go, this one was quite interesting, but there were just a few things in the end that I didn't exactly understand. (Just knowing me they probably were answered and I'm just too slow to comprehend it).Although I struggled, and if you've read my other reviews for this series you know I STRUGGLED to complete this series, the last two volumes were definitely worth my time, and the whole concept of 'graduating' was quite the interesting topic.I just wish a couple things were clearer for slow people like me. :/If anyone would like to pity or take mercy on me, please explain the few things that I really didn't understand. 'Sigh.'I may read this series again because it was so short, but likely not anytime soon. I need to let my head wrap around it just a little more before I throw myself back into this story. :3
review 2: As Ichijou Mashiro’s hard kept secret is revealed to his classmates, Mashiro’s dream world is turned upside down. The after-hours class Mashiro signs up for is not at all what he expects it to be. Passing the class is his only chance of graduation and the horrors he finds there are only the beginnings to the mysteries yet to be revealed. This dark series is filled with controversial and emotional issues that take the reader on a journey through what the characters are feeling and what they experience. There is always some sort of twists throughout causing the reader to re-think about the issues involved.Interesting concept to say the least! The story itself invokes a creepy mysterious concept taking place throughout the school. I was impressed with the complexities of the students and situations involved throughout the series. Reading this series the author does an amazing job of making the reader feel the characters pain and suffering. Note: This review was completed after reading volumes 1-10. less
