review 1: It was... alright. I enjoyed it and there were times when I was reading and I didn't want to put down and other times where I was "eh". I found the idea of the book interesting and have somehow missed out on the previous books but I think it was an ok read as a stand alone book without the prior background knowledge. It did take me a bit to figure out what was going on but once I did, it was a pretty straight-forward easy read. A little predictable. Zoe was also a little hard to relate to - she's got a bit of that standoffish personality which put me in mind of Brennan from the TV Series Bones.
