review 1: John Lago is an assassin for hire, who targets corrupt lawyers, bankers, CEO's, and government officials. He never kills dogs if he can help it. Like 99.999% of action heroes, he longs for a boring, normal life, and his moral compass must be genetic somehow because he didn't have any real role models growing up.This book is the long-lost sibling of a Van Damme* movie. The characters are all right, the dialogue is smooth and often witty, and there's a lot of improbable but very fun violence. (Unless you don't like reading about arterial spray or what happens when you're gut shot. Then the violence is not fun and you probably won't like this book.)You don't go to a summer action flick for the complex plot or realistic characters. You just don't. And as long as you realize wh... moreat this book is before you go in, you're almost guaranteed to enjoy it.* This reference totally dated me, what action hero are the kids into these days, insert his name over 'Van Damme'.
review 2: This is a really fun book. It reads like an 80s action movie. John Lago is an assassin working for HR, Inc. This is his last assignment before retirement at the age of 25. Lago poses as an intern in a law firm while looking for his mark. The characters are somewhat flat, dialogue is some what clichéd, and the action is somewhat unbelievable. It somehow all adds up to a really fun book. less

Inaccuracies broke the verisimilitude which then meant the other elements were less believable.

Fun read. Not perfect but clever and different.
