review 1: I was really intrigued by this subject matter, and then I got into it, and the further I got, the more irate I became on behalf of women everywhere. But it does sound like something a man would think up. Hey let's make men pay for their brides and the government and parents make a killing. But that is pushing women back to slavery and i am a very proud and independent woman. I think would want to start a war with the men who started this mess.But after all that rant I throughly enjoyed this book, and rooted for Mia and Whitney to make it to their dream destinanation. i was saddened to see Whitney's outcome, but she loved her friend. Mia is a very brave girl and can't wait to read more of her adventure into freedom. Great job, Shannon!
review 2: there wa... mores so many things wrong with this book. you know, i was so excited to read it because the concept just seemed so interesting. but nope, i couldn't get behind the author's writing style, the one-dimensional characters you couldn't empathise, poorly development of the actual system the author were trying to force down your throats, and the romance was predictable as heck.heard there was a second book too. i'm not even gonna bother. less
