review 1: This was a fun read for the holidays , and one can never have to many stories about Lizzy, and Mr. Darcy.This was a collection by several authors, one actually put in the Christmas Carol..by Dickens, and made Darcy the unfeeling a prideful Scrooge..pretty neat....all the stories were done pretty well..love Jane Austen stories, and Pride and Prjudice was a favorite.....it was fun to see how each author added on to their lives for Christmas....a good read!
review 2: A fairly entertaining diversion for fans of P&P. Eberhart's use of the Christmas Carol proceedings to bring Darcy's arrogance down a notch and make him realize he needed to go propose to Elizabeth a second time was a whimsical way to get us from point A to point B. Her introduction of the actual Sc... morerooge into the story pushed it a tad over the top, but not so much so that it diminished what came before. Grange's story takes the Darcys into the future, imagining the birth of their first child. The language and writing style followed the source material quite well, so it felt like a natural continuation of the original story. The third contribution was the weakest of the set, presented as a series of vignettes rather than as a continuous narrative. While I'm happy to imagine that the Darcys had a satisfying intimate life, the frequent referrals to it just felt jarring and out of sync with Austen's works. I'm fine with that in a standard romance novel, but I just didn't feel like it fit well in this context. less
