review 1: ...let me start by saying that I LOVE Sharon Sala books and have read most to date...this is the start of a new series taking place in Blessings, GA...poor LilyAnn is no long the HS sweetie and has let herself fall into a blue funk over the last 11 years...her BF dies in the war, and she basically let herself go to heck...the boy/man next door has always had the hots for her since HS, but she doesn't know it...I love the secondary characters...Rachel was a stinker...TJ was just a pain...and Ruby Dye's place is where all the gossip/news is shared...this'll be a fun, quick reading series about a small town filled with quirky folks...can't wait for #2...
review 2: I'll just say that reading this book was not a highlight. I was attracted by the cover and the openin... moreg pages-but was struggling to finish it. It has a few interesting characters but tosses in every kind of character to fill out the pages. We meet the too-long mourning girlfriend who still visits the grave the long dead military boyfriend,and the man who spends 11 years waiting for his true love to notice him though he lives right next door. We have cheaters, liars, the stalker and rapist, the neighbor who wears his wife's undies, the lesbian co-worker - they're all supposed to pass through the doors of the local hair salon but it falls sort of working. I just can't recommend it. less
