review 1: I cannot fully express how craptastic I found this book. I could not connect with the characters, and all the horror, twists & revelations felt forced and insincere. If you were to outline the plot of the book, it would come across as unique, intriguing and maybe even touching, but in actuality the story was just flat.Yes, I realize that she is a veteran author and has won awards for her work. I have even read some of her books in the past and have been entertained, but I was really let down with this one.

... mores definitely done some research into the lives of abuse victims. This one made me feel dirty and ashamed just to be reading it - an therein lies the beauty of this book. You feel invested in what becomes of Ellie and no matter how difficult the page is to read, you just can't put it down. You NEED to know what happens to her. If you are just starting this one and find yourself wanting to quit reading DON'T, the outcome is worth the struggle, and as so many have said if something doesn't kill you, it will eventually make you stronger. Great Book. less
