review 1: the beginning of the book felt pretty slow and I'll be honest, I almost gave up. it just felt sort of unoriginal. but it didn't take long for the story to start picking up and it got really interesting! Rory, obviously 'the chosen one' or the one with the 'great destiny', with her male and female best friends Lena and chase. Lena's tale was intense!!! interesting twist on jack being Jacqueline. the snow queen seems like a formidable villain. can't wait to see what happens next!
review 2: I was a bit confused at the beginning, but once I learned the nuances of the school and curriculum, I enjoyed following the characters through one exciting adventure after another. I liked the new kid in school premise, and empathized with Rory. Characters were well developed ... moreand maintained their individuality even as they grew through their experiences. Really liked the interplay of magic and the relationships between the students. less
