review 1: As the 1st book in the series there were a lot of characters introduced. Easy predictable formulaic series type. Abby and Trace were almost too predictable for their love story. I did like how Abby realized her ex husband was such a controlling person degrading her at every chance. Loved the personality of the grandma and her humorous way of getting her point across. Jess was over the top with her ADD issues but it added suspense to how she was going to get the inn ready on time. Their parents being apart all those years show that there will be more happening with them.
review 2: This is the first book I've read by Sherryl Woods, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I felt like the characters were pretty well-rounded and relatable. The father Mick reminded me
... more a bit of my mother in the way he buried himself in work to stay away from home. The character Jess with her ADD reminded me so much of myself. A lot of what she went through in the book is what I go through daily. Some readers are saying she was a whiny screw up, and maybe she was, but she came by it honestly and while she was certainly frustrated with her family, you could see most of her frustration lay with herself and her inability to get things done, focus on work, and manage her business, and so she took that frustration out on her family. People really don't understand what you go through with ADD. It really makes the simplest things 100 times more difficult. I felt like Abby was a great big sister and she did everything she could to help Jess. I agree this book certainly followed the typical romance formula, but that in no way made it less enjoyable to read (at least for me). Sometimes that does throw me off with books, but this one really hooked me. It helped that I liked Abby and I felt like she was someone I could get behind. And the character of Trace Riley as her love interest felt like a perfect fit for her. Overall, this book drew me in, kept me interested, and was very satisfying. less
