review 1: Michael O'Rourke lives his life the only way he knows how. As a boy, it was by surviving his mother's twisted lifestyle of a drug addicted scam artist. As an adult, it's by using his gift of talking with the dead in an effort to help murder victims. I found it only mildly dark and graphic though those two words definitely belong in its description. Being a short read, it is fast paced and the romance is quick to emerge although grows only slightly till the end which made the whole thing believable despite the paranormal theme.
review 2: 3 1/2 stars. At times a very grim story of Mike who through horrible childhood trauma (which starts off the story) talks to ghosts of murder victims. He leads an unhappy, haunted (literally) life spending so much of his time
... morewith the unhappy dead. Daisy is the sheriff in a small town where a serial killer is at work. She is a "sensitive" -- not able to talk to the dead like Mike, but she "senses" things. To his surprise, she accepts that he has supernatural abilities and the two team to catch the murderer. I'm once again impressed by Shiloh Walker's talent in telling a gripping story and plan to read more of her work. The beginning was a bit confusing where scenes moved too quickly between Mike at his job as a FBI special agent and Daisy discovering another murder victim. But once the two got together (which is early on), the plot smoothed out into an interesting story. The killer is a monster but I was grateful not to be subjected to drawn out details of the way he tortured his victims. I definitely plan to read more by this author. less

Okay for a quick read, but not very satisfying beyond that. Another free Kindle edition.
