review 1: I found the plot similar in many ways to the Greg Mandel series by Peter F. Hamilton. Sometimes it felt a bit too fanciful, or that it had been fun to write, I guess, this made it less immersive. I find it doubtful that I will continue reading the series beyond this point. It was full of action though and that was nice, I just want that sort of thing balanced out more with other things. I liked the reference to Half Life 2 zombies.
review 2: Although a bit hard to follow, it's worth some perseverance, slowly unfolding into a most fascinating story. One reviewer suggested the protagonist was way too young (22), an opinion with which I at first agreed, but ultimately I accepted him. At one point another main character, a 19-year old nun, says "Faith is a decision
... more … Not a feeling." Choice and decision are the other main characters in this story. less

Fun enough sci-fi. Could be better, but it was a good read.
