review 1: I will say it was the title of the novel that first intrigued me, and made me think it would be a quick, easy summer read. But it was actually tough to get through for such a short book. As an English scholar myself, I appreciated some of the literary references and analyses, but I don't think they are the best fit for a novel. It felt very preachy and academic at time. The writing itself is brilliantly done, but I didn't feel like there was much of a plot. The only action I cared about happened in the last 40 pages...I also found it difficulty to relate to the character of Mia. She was the only character given some level of development (which could've been more developed as well), but she wasn't developed to be relatable to most young readers I bel... moreieve.
review 2: Има един писател в семейството на Сири Хуствед и това е мъжът й - Пол Остър. Втора книга чета от нея и съм напълно убедена вече, че тя не може да пише. Разпокъсано повествование, нищонеслучване, ужасно претенциозни писаници, цитат след цитат от къде ли не - от гръцката митология, през Монтен и да Марк Твен. Кофти метафори - сълзите й са пайети(?!) Тук вече сериозно се усъмних в интелигентността на авторката. И всичко беше много, ама много досадно. Добре поне, че беше кратко мъчението и го приключих за един плажоден. less
