review 1: Going into this book I didn't expect to particularly enjoy it. The whole puritan theme does not really grab my imagination. However I did find as I started reading, the story was enough to pull me in. I can say that now I have finished the book, I am so glad I persisted. It is one of those stories that you walk away with a lot to think about and digest.Although this book is very different to the others that Siri has written, it still wonderfully displays her talent of story telling ability and historical description.I would recommend this book to others if they are up for something a little different from the typical Christian Romance novel.
review 2: I really want to give this book 4.5 stars because it was fantastic. The beginning was a bit slow (and a tad con... morefusing until I knew all the characters POV) but once it got going, I had to force myself to put it down and go to sleep. (I even thought about it at work when I wasn't able to read!)Siri Mitchell is one of my favorite authors not just because her research makes her novels accurate and interesting, but because her characters are always so real; you can understand their thoughts and feel their emotions. On top of that, this book had an amazing message about faith and grace. less
